About WoMEN...

The World Meeting and Education Network is a network of 20 women from all over the world, connecting everyday to share, learn, and benefit from people of different cultures or backgrounds.

WoMEN was started in 2013 by a group of five French students (Léna Clavier, Camilia Oukit, Salomé Bonnand, Marlène Giraud, and Marie Grand-Clément) from the INSA of Lyon. The idea started in an option class called "Engineering and Activism", where they developed their project to create their own NGO.

The aim was to connect women of different origins, different backgrounds, different countries, to see what they could bring each other and in order for them to help each other on daily tasks, with the idea that in the end it could change their lives.

Women from developed countries can help women coming from difficult places (countries at war, for example) to learn how to read, how to write... This can evoluate in creating a sense of community, and making them want to change things on their own, at home.

On the other hand, women in Europe or the United States can discover new cultures and apply new principles to their lives, but also have a concrete view of what's happening in the world and know that they can do something about it.

WoMEN also initiates a number of projects in less developed countries, that are started by local women part of our network. Members who take a particular interest in the project can participate in any way they want to, whether financially or by aiding in the development of the project.

And to do all of this, the only thing you need is an internet connection!
